This is great news, especially for those clubs with a rake of blooming youths.  Ostensibly it was heralded as a way to reduce server stress and that threat has apparently gone.  But perhaps they realised that it was not realistic - what player gets a new contract/ salary every month - and (even more perhaps) it may have been taking just a little bit too much cash out of the game.

When they came up with this idea they asserted that it would not cost you any more, you would just be paying now instead of later at the start of the season.  But I have always refuted this and the cumulative effects of absorbing rising costs each week was underestimated.  Plus it made it a nightmare to budget and with all these other changes, even more so.

It is not uncommon for blooming players to double their ASI 4 times in a season.  So if we take it that a player begins the season aged 18, 1,000 ASI and on $30,000, we can compare the rolling wage costs with the past and (thankfully) future structure.  His ASI could rise to 16,000 over this season, which equates to a wage of $380,000:

week  1 season increase   rolling increase
1 ASI 1000
                  30,000              30,000
2                   30,000              37,065
3                   30,000              45,794
4                   30,000              56,578
5                   30,000              69,902
6                   30,000              86,364
7                   30,000             106,703
8                   30,000             131,832
9                   30,000             162,878
10                   30,000             201,236
11                   30,000             248,627
12                   30,000             307,179
1 ASI 16000
                 380,000             379,520
Total Paid                  740,000          1,863,679
