If I say 29, what would you automatically think? The caps that famous striker Akinori Nishizawa got for his native Japan?
No it's the amount of goals that were scored in Division 4.1, last round. Yes, while most of us were begging our star striker didn't miss at the doorstep, just over at 4.1 you'll see stacks of goals that you just wished you had. Here's 5 of the best games. A crowd of 11000 were crammed into the Giovanni Agnelli Stadium on a miserable day but spirits were lifted as Juve broke down the slightly defensive play of the allstars with M.Seeka shooting an unstoppable shot, after some nice passing work for the home side 33yr old J.Nulney smashed home a second with a strike from 25 yards but his day just got better as 5 minutes later he netted his second heading home a beautiful cross from C.McHenry.However it wasn't all doom and gloom for Elite fans as before the half as C.Dunne headed the ball into the far post. Although just 2 minutes into the 2nd half Seeka claimed his second and his 3rd of the season by firing home a 30meter shot. The first goal looking like a meer consilation for the loyal GSE, or was it with 2 goals in the space of 5 minutes both by C.Langan a 25meter shot and a header respectively. As the match went on and fingernails continued to be bitten yes there it was at the death B.Moloney got the equaliser for elite allstars by perfectly placig a pass from C.Dunne into the bottom corner. MoM= C.Langan (Allstars Elite) It just took 6 minutes for Enfield to claim their first of many as good attacking football by A.Singh gave hime the space to croos te ball into the box where H.Rey volleyed the ball straight into the net leaving the CMC defence at each others throats over sloppy defending. With 5 minutes before the break Enfiled got a 2nd with R.Kennedy who headed a brilliant B.Li freekick low into the ground. Although someone forgot to give CMC the script as with seconds left in the half T.McGinty gave them hope meeting S.Casey cross the head the ball straight into the bottom of the net. However CMC's new found hope was severely dented in just 7 minutes of the second half on the 69th minute A.McCreevey was out cold by a tackle from his own teammate as he was carried off R.McCaffery came to take his place, As the match clocked its 74th minute H.Rey volleyed home from distance to get his 2nd but his night got better by claiming a trick-of-hat 2 minutes later by placing the ball far post leaving the keeper with nothing to do but watch the ball go pass him and putting his club into the relegation zone. MoM= A.Singh (Enfield Celtic) Both team lined up up in similar fashion in both a 4-4-2 formation with a balanced attacking style although Shamrocks played slightly defensive positioning while Masters played in a somewhat attackin position. Shamrocks 13th match of the season could not have started in a worse fashion just 15 minutes their reliable keeper injured himself in attempting a volley(thats a first) on came the youngster C.Bell to take his place between the posts and his first piece of the action was to take the ball out the back of the net as P.Reilly smashed the ball the ball into the far corner leaving the United faithful thinking it wasn't going to be there day but 2 minutes later their fears were laid to rest with a 25meter strike by M. Mc.Laughlin to pull Shamrock United back in the game. With the fans behind them Shamrocks were able to score another 6 minutes later with C. O'Connor sticking a perfectly placed cross from J.O'Sullivan staight between the white sticks. With just the one goal in it the Shamrocks felt they needed a security goal and thats what they got on the 61 minute with C.McGinty directing the ball towards the bottom corner after he was picked out by C.O'Connor. The night got worse for Masters of the Universe FC as with just 9 minutes left striker J.Meehen with a knee injury and is now out for 7 games. MoM= J.O'Sullivan (Shamrocks United) With a crowd of 16000 this match had all that charactistics of a true David and Goliath affair and 17 miutes it was David who capitalised K.Thompson volleyed the ball superbly into the back of the net as the Jay stadium fell silent with the shock of going down to the Corribsiders. Going into the dressing rooms at half-time it was noticed that the manager had a spring in his step and a gleefull smirk on his face. This however was wiped off at the start of the 2nd half with keeper S.Clarke coming off due to an injury in his thigh. He was replaced by G.Smith who had the unenviable job of picking the ball out of the net 11 minutes later due to Irish capped player Ian McGorry using all of his 10 skill points to head home the equaliser and spare the embarrasment for the home team. With just 6 minutes left for Corribside warriors to claim a memorable draw goliath struck again in the shape of the Danish hitman E.Hansen to get all 3 points for "de dubs". He had enough time and space to header towards the goal from the edge of the box when he met a H.Jameel long ball. MoM= Ian McGorry (Baile Atha Cliath) Although this game seemed like a straight forward match for Botanic it was Putland who applied some of the early pressure. But they failed to capitalise due to a mix of brilliant keeping and sloppy finishing. With 38 minutes gone and botanic not registering a single shot on target it was their first effort on goal that got them their first goal of the game. The goalscorer was D.Morgan who curled the ball into the far post, when he met a long ball supplied by Goalkeeper J.O'Sullivan.This match was made a whole lot harder for Putland Utd when A.Brogan got sent off just seconds before the half-time whistle was blown. And 14 minutes into the 2nd half things got interesting as Botanic House FC's centre back had to come off injured to be replaced by the less experienced M.Thompson. Then, with just 11 minutes left in it, it looked liked Putland could pull one back but all hope vanished as D.Morgan got his second because of shocking defending for Putland Utd. Shortening their odds for relegation considerably. MoM= J.O'Sullivan (Botanic House FC) Sorry I couldn't get through all of them, but I'm sure this will leave you wanting more... Other Results Please give me some feedback on my first update and I'll answer some mysteries, like whatever happened to disgraced Villa striker Bosko Balaban or other unknown footballers...
