4.1 has seen an exciting start to season 13, with two teams obtaining the maximum amount on offer from their first three games. The first of these, De Bowez, had a tough time of it in 4.1 last season, finishing in 13th place with a goal difference of -13. Wholesale changes were obviously in order. Shipping out a number of defenders and attacking players, manager Oscar Fred has chosen to bring in experienced players in their stead; a GK and a DC to help shore up the leaking defence, and a FC to try to get a few more goals. An opening 2-0 home win and two consecutive 1-2 away wins would appear to suggest that De Bowez have indeed managed to turn the tide. Our second table-topper is Swilly Rovers. They finished last season one place above De Bowez in 12th, conceding 47 goals along the way. Two home wins and an away win have given them the best possible start to the season, but they haven't strengthened their squad at all and I think they'll find themselves stretched a little too thin, especially in defence, should they get hit by injuries. Stuck on zero points are Cow Tipping Drawfs, FC Nou Camp and Convoy Arsenal. Having finished second in Group 5.2 in season 12, Cow Tipping Dwarfs appear to be struggling to make the jump in division, losing their first three games in Division 4. Their misery was compounded in their last game, losing their star striker "Sparky" Hughes to injury. His 17 goals last season were vital in their promotion push, so The Tippers will be thankful that his injury is only two games in duration. FC Nou Camp appear to be carrying on where they left off last season, unfortunately for them. They finished 14th and their start to the new season hasn't given any signs of hope to manager Banjo Hernandez or the fans down at the Camp Nou. |
