With the new league structure, Division 3 is a bit like Dublin during the boom.  With brand spanking new leagues increasing its size by a third very quickly.

With 27 groups Div 4 is a bit like Shanghai.  More about that later; you could get lost in there.

Leading the way in 3.1 is Greenpark Celtic on 16 points and they remain the only unbeaten team to round 6.  A 1-1 draw at home to 3rd bottom kelta de Vigo, the only bleamish on an otherwise perfect record  Greenpark joined TM in the 6th division, way back in season 7 and I didn’t realise we even had six divisions back then.  Their team is built around the solidity of Gavin “Steel” O’Neill, their youthful midfielder.

Four points off them lie Galway.  Galway have been around since season 10.  They tend to do a couple of seasons in each division before they progress.  Perhaps this will be the season to break this tradition.  Their squad is peppered with a large number of the old and decrepit that Galway use for their B team and yet there are a number of untried and better skilled youths twiddling their thumbs in there, doing nothing.

Rathgar is in 3rd, fresh from his Second Div adventure.  They splashed out 70 mill on Pietro Gaudio to keep the goal.  Although the inexperienced San Marinoan has yet to live up to expectations.

The Polomen seem a bit enigmatic.  One of the only teams I’ve seen that did not promote their first season from Div 5.  Next they topped 5.4, then second in 4.2 brings them to 3.1.

Behind them in 5th place, Real Cymru lead a bit of a pack.  With Irish Juggernauts, Munster Rovers, DVD as well as Cymru all on 9 points.  Cymru has been splashing the cash around so far this year, with OMC Scott O’Byrne the most expensive player to join the club.

The Juggernauts had better hope they don’t get struck by the keeper injury bug while their manager is off learning how to kill people (there was something in the forum), as they only have 2 keepers.

Another Season 10 arrival, Munster Rovers are enjoying/enduring their 3rd season in the 3rd division.  No players of any note in for quite some time and it isn’t shortage of cash that is the problem.  They may be happy enough with another season here.

One team who has invested is DVD FC, having spent 140 mill this season.  Including Oscar McManus, for 102.5.  Oscar is on a 3 match ban at present – did he sleep with the ref's granddaughter or something?

De Bowez also dipped in to the NT sale at the start of the month and picked up a handy enough looking 18 year old goal keep, Calum Brennan.  Impossible to say how much this lad has yet to improve, but not bad for 100 mill if he’s still plenty to bloom.

Manchester City TM are next in 10th on 7 points.  Another club with loads of dosh, but a padlocked chequebook, with their last signing back in August.  Have a feeling there just might be a blue dot by this guy’s name at the end of the season.

Dunboyne AFC are certainly active and have been buying players.  So much so, that they may well be broke.  They’re on a run of draws at the moment and will be looking to chalk up a 3 pointer when they host Kangaruu on Wednesday.

Ballinode bought a savage striker for Christmas and have been dipping in to the market since.  167 mill Svetozar Bobek, their Montenegro international cost them.  Bet they’re wishing he’d scored more than one goal.

Just in the R Zone are Kangaruu FC.  Ruu appears to have adopted something of an Irish-only policy, apart from his Korean keeper (who quite possibly has Irish roots).  They’ve been staying away from the market and saving the cash.

Ransboro Rovers are in 14th place and have not enjoyed the dream start in the 3rd division.

Tullamore Eagles have been in the 3rd division since season 8.  They last bought a player on the 29th November 2007 and are subsequently loaded.

Kelta de Vigo came 4th last season and relied heavily on the goal scoring abilities of Max Wilson.  They are in a dire league position, but in actual fact are only 1 win off the mid-table.  It is after all very early days and this will be a tight enough league.

Chamilitary look to be rebuilding their team after relegation and have no fewer than 14 (mainly foreign youth) players on sale.  We may expect more of these kinds of signings over the next few weeks: Suwit Likhitjittha

Taking up the last spot are tiocfaidh me bolex.  They haven’t bought a player since June last year and may well be another one for the end of season blue dot.
